BiAir – Low Frequency Membrane Air Springs

Product Description

The BiAir® Air Spring Isolator consists of a housing with two separate air chambers (load and dampening) connected via a tube to obtain as high a dampening effect as possible.  The load chamber is enclosed by a thin walled, flexible and pressure resistant rolling diaphragm. The floating piston is seated on this diaphragm and is pushed into the air volume of the load chamber. This design causes highly effective vibration isolation. The amount of dampening can be easily changed from outside with the throttle valve. Due to the friction caused by the air flow passing through the throttle valve, up to 20% dampening can be achieved.  A safety valve will protect the diaphragm from becoming damaged due to over inflation.

Product Versions Available

There are several versions of the BiAir® Membrane Air Spring Isolator available.  These versions include:

  1. Model BiAir #-ED-ST is a low profile (≤100mm) version with baseplate, and steel construction with electroless nickel plating.  Available with an optional safety valve to prevent over pressurization of the membrane.
  2. Model BiAir #-ED-ST-LT is a low profile (≤100mm) version with baseplate, steel construction with electroless nickel plating, and limited travel.
  3. Model BiAir #-ED-AL is a low profile (≤100mm) version with baseplate, and anodized aluminum construction. Available with an optional safety valve to prevent over pressurization of the membrane.
  4. Model BiAir #-ED-AL-LT is a low profile (≤100mm) version with baseplate, anodized aluminum construction, and limited travel.
  5. Model BiAir #-ED is the standard profile (157mm), grey powder coated aluminum construction with safety valve, 2.5 Hz vertical natural frequency.  Equipped with a safety valve to prevent over pressurization of the membrane.
  6. Model BiAir #-ED/HE is the Height Edition profile (307mm), grey powder coated aluminum construction with safety valve, 1.8 Hz vertical natural frequency.  Equipped with a safety valve to prevent over pressurization of the membrane.
  7. Model BiAir #-ED/HE-Max is the Height Edition Max. profile (507mm), grey powder coated aluminum construction with safety valve, 1.1 Hz vertical natural frequency.  Equipped with a safety valve to prevent over pressurization of the membrane.

Range of Application

Highly effective vibration isolation of sensitive measuring and testing machines, fine machining plant, as well as optical and electronic equipment. Another important range of application is the vibration isolated foundation of vehicle, motor and other performance testers.

BiAir® Air Spring isolators are extremely well suited for the isolation of machine foundations.
